Our Unique Five-Step Process
By strategically using just the simplest elements of air and water, we are able to deliver an extremely thorough and yet gentle cleaning. While this process is more time consuming, cleaning your rugs by hand helps us ensure that no stain is missed and that the delicate construction of even the most fragile rugs is not forced to withstand undue stress. This is how we are able to provide the most thorough cleaning for your cherished investment.
1. Air Dusting
This initial step known as Air Dusting - or simply Dusting - combines a powerful stream of compressed air with our specially designed and patented tools. During this step, we gently dislodge and remove the dust and dry particles that are embedded deep within the fibers and foundation of the rug.
2. Submersion Hand Wash
In weaving capitals around the globe, handmade rugs are traditionally washed by submerging them in strong, flowing rivers for several hours at a time. That is why our second step simulates this age-old practice, dissolving and releasing any foreign matter. By utilizing a continuous flow of water in combination with a gentle, ph-neutral cleanser massaged deep into each individual fiber, we are able to remove all contaminants from your and prevent them from resettling. During the submersion, three compression rollers actively dislodge all remaining debris. Rugs with unusually stubborn stains (i.e. pet urine) undergo an extended period of submersion in order to guarantee the best results. All rugs are treated with small, medium and large compression rollers to help make sure that all contaminants are completely removed before the rugs are permitted to enter the Air Rinse stage.
3. Air Rinse
Our third step is the Air Rinse process. At this stage, we rinse all remaining traces of cleaning solution from the rug by employing a combination of compressed air and specially designed tools. This powerful underwater rinse also lifts the rug's fibers, restoring body. When the Air Rinse is complete, the rug is gently lifted from the Wash Pit and and rinsed in soft water once more before being transferred to the Dry Room.
4. Controlled Drying
Many rugs can mold and mildew if allowed to remain saturated for too long. That is why a fast and efficient drying method is crucial. Our fourth step, Controlled Drying, takes place in our unique Dry Room which employs the most effective combination of air circulation, dehumidification and heat. Rugs placed here are rendered completely dry within 12-24 hours.
5. Post Detailing
The final stage, Post Detailing, focuses on cleaning and restoring the look and texture of all fringes using a tool specially designed for this purpose. Also during this step, all rugs are brushed and inspected to ensure that no trace of any stain remains.
